Son of Robert Albert and Emma Roberts, of Pit Lane, Shirland, Alfreton; Husband of Bertha Roberts, of Victoria Buildings, Stonebroom, Alfreton, Derbyshire. Went to France on 10th November 1915. Killed in action, 1st July 1916, aged 29, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
