Son of Mr. And Mrs. John Riley, of 13, Bolsover St., Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. He was a coal miner at Bestwood Colliery, Nottinghamshire. He also served in Gallipoli and Egypt. He was killed in action 26th September 1916, age 23.
