Born at Stone, Stafford and lived at West Bridge House, Stone. Son of Alfred Richard and Alice Maria Ridout, of 6, Meakin Avenue, Stone. He enlisted at Stone and went to France, 27th August 1915. He was killed in action, 9th October 1916, age 20, in the attack on the Schwaben Redoubt near Thiepval, France during the Battle of the Somme.
