Private Isaac Curtis

Battalion: 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of Isaac and Annie Curtis, of,7, Navarino Terrace old Radford, Nottingham. Husband of Frances Curtis, of 11, Hartwell Street, Peas Hill Road, Nottingham. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 17th August 1914 at Nottingham. He went to France on 27th December 1914. Was posted to the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, and went to Gallipoli on 28th August 1915. He was admitted to hospital at Suvla Bay, 24th November 1915 suffering from sickness and was transferred to England where he was admitted to the 1st General Hospital, Dudley, 3rd January 1916. On recovery, he went to France on 29th December 1916 and was killed in action, 7th June 1917, aged 34, in the attack at Wytschaete, Belgium.
