Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of Edward and Edith Grocock, of 56, Roland Terrace, Heskey Street, Nottingham. He was a quarryman prior to enlisting on 10th December 1915 at Nottingham. He went to France on 11th July 1916 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1917, aged 26, during the attack on the German positions to the west of Lens, France.
