Born at Nottingham. Son of William Pottinger of 13, Bertram Street, Nottingham. Husband of Lottie Pottinger, of 1 Trinity Place, Trinity Square, Nottingham. He was a cooper prior to enlisting at Nottingham 25th August 1914. He went to France 11th November 1914 and was appointed Lance Corporal 26th July 1915. He was killed in action when in the attack at Sanctuary Wood, Belgium, 9th August 1915, age 32.
