Battalion: 1/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Litton, Derbyshire and lived at Cressbrook, Derbyshire. Son of Harry and Hannah Jane Ponsonby, of 52, Institute Row, Cressbrook, Buxton, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting, 30th March 1912 at Litton. He went to France on 28th February 1915 and was killed in action, 21st May 1915, age 19, whilst on sentry duty being shot in the head by a German sniper whilst in the line at Kemmel, Belgium.
