Born at Liverpool and lived at 18 South Street, Sneinton, Nottingham. Husband of Emily Parker. He was a brick-maker prior to enlisting at 31st July 1915 at Nottingham. He joined the 3rd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and then was was transferred to (264536) 488th Employment Company, Labour Corps. He died of illness at Rugeley Camp Military Hospital, Staffordshire, 12th February 1918, aged 49.

Commonwealth War Grave Commission shows date of death as 12th November 1918.
