Born at Bakewell, Derbyshire and lived at Stretton, Derbyshire. Son of John and Ann Parker, of Range Cottages, Stretton, Alfreton, Derbyshire. He was an iron foundry crane driver prior to enlisting at Clay Cross, Derbyshire. He served in Gallipoli during 1915 and was killed in action, 9th August 1916, aged 27, whilst serving in the line near Arras
