Private Christopher William Parfitt

Battalion : 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Salisbury, Wiltshire and lived in Nottingham. Son of John and Edith Parfitt, of 4, Lammas Terrace, Lammas Street, The Meadows, Nottingham. He was a printer prior to enlisting on 14th August 1913 at Nottingham. He was posted to the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 27th December 1914 and went to France on 31st December 1914. He suffered frostbite and was transferred to England on 17th March 1915. He was then posted to the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 31st December 1915. He returned to France and suffered gunshot wounds to his back, on 10th June 1916 and was transferred to England. He was treated at the 1st General Hospital, Cambridge, from 11th June 1916 to the 11th July 1916. He returned to France, on 31st January 1917 and was posted to the 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 25th February 1915. He died of wounds on 21st June 1917, aged 24.
