Born at Arnold, Nottingham. Son of Thomas And Mary Palmer, of 8, James Street, Arnold, Notts. Was slag breaker at Gedling Colliery, Nottingham. He enlisted at Nottingham, went to France on 14th July 1915 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, aged 31, during the attack on the German positions near Ovillers, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
