Corporal Albert Ernest Paling

Battalion: 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born in Southwell, Notts and was a miller. Son of John and Annie Paling, of Constance Villa, Station Road, Southwell, Nottinghamshire. He enlisted on 28th October 1914 and went to France on 6th June 1915. He suffered from gas poisoning on 14th October 1915 and was hospitalised at Rouen. Was appointed Lance-Corporal on 15th December 1915 and was promoted to Corporal on 19th March 1916. He died on 14th July 1916, aged 20 from gunshot wounds to his left thigh from the day before.
Buried: Warlincourt Halte British Cemetery, France. Plot I, Row H, Grave 11.
