Born at Waltham, Leicestershire and lived at Nottingham. Son of John William and Jane Paice, of 42, Rupert Street, Nottingham. He was a lamp man for the midland railway prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to France 25th February 1915 and was killed in action, 1st July 1916, aged 22, in the attack at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
