Born and lived at Radcliffe-on-Trent , Nottinghamshire. Son of Walter and Annie Nowell, of Estate Cottage, Radcliffe-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire. Was an assistant baker. Enlisted at Nottingham 20th January 1916. Went to France 16th July 1916. Died 28th June 1917, age 20.

Buried : Vlamertinghe New Military Cemetery, Belgium. Plot I. Row D, Grave 23.
