Lived in Nottingham. Son of Herbert and Mary Maria Nobel, of 10, Bridge Row, Mount Street, Nottingham. Husband of Gertrude Alice Noble, of 10, King’s Lynn Terrace, Nottingham. He was a bookbinder prior to enlisting on 20th January 1915 at Nottingham. He went to France on 28th June 1915 and suffered gunshot wounds to his right arm, on 28th March 1916. He was admitted to 3rd General Hospital, Le Treport, France 31st March 1916. He rejoined his battalion on 14th May 1916 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, during the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
