Son of Abraham and Sarah Nicholls, of 16, Wallace Villas, Union Street, Beeston, Nottingham. Went to France on 26th June 1915. Killed in action, on 1st July 1916, aged 23, in the attack on the German positions near Ovillers, France during the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
