Born in Nottingham and lived at 22, Midland Avenue, Nottingham. Husband of Elizabeth Newcombe. He enlisted at Nottingham and went to France on 11th October 1915 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, during the attack on the German positions at Ovillers, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
