Born and lived at Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire. Son of Arthur and Fanny Neale, of, 19, Manvers Street, Mansfield Woodhouse; Husband of Lois Neale, of 39, Gladstone Street, Mansfield. He was a hoisery hand prior to enlisting at Mansfield. He went to France 14th December 1915. He was awarded the Military Medal, London Gazette 2nd November 1917, For gallantry and devotion to duty during operations in the St Julien Sector between 31st July and 5th August 1917. Killed in Action 20th September 1917, aged 24, during the attack on the German lines at Shrewsbury Forest near Zwarteleen (Hill 60), Belgium.
