Born at Ilkeston, Derbyshire and lived at Nottingham. Son of Robert and Catherine Naylor, of 81, Claude Street, Dunkirk, Nottingham. He was a grocers shop assistant prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to France 29th July 1915 and was killed in action, 14th February 1916, aged 21, during heavy German shellfire and the explosion of a German mine, prior to the German attack of the front line trenches, near the canal to the south-east of Ypres, Belgium.
