Private Herbert Murfet

Battalion : 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at Nottingham. Son of Arthur and Emily Murfet, of 35, Alfred Street South, Nottingham. He was an apprentice iron founder prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to France 18th March 1915 and was killed in action, 15th September 1916, aged 21, during the attack on the German positions at Guillemont, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
Commemorated : Thiepval Memorial, France. Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A.
