Lived at Forest Town, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He was coal miner prior to enlisting 9th September 1914 at Mansfield. Son of John and Elizabeth Murden, of 9, First Avenue, Forest Town. He went to France 2nd March 1915 and was killed in action, 21st April 1915, whilst on a wiring party, in front of the trenches at Kemmel, Belgium.

Buried: Kemmel Chateau Military Cemetery, Belgium. Row E. Grave 67.
