Corporal John Coxon Mitchell

Born at Derby and lived at Regent Street, Derby. Son of Andrew D. Mitchell, of 144, London Road, Derby. He was a bricklayer prior to enlisting at Derby 16th June 1915. He went to France 6th March 1916, appointed Lance Corporal 2nd July 1916 and promoted Corporal 2nd October 1916. He was killed in action 10th October 1916, during the attack on the Schwaben Redoubt, Thiepval, France during the Battle of the Somme.
