Battalion: 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Son of William and Lucy Mitchell, of 35, South Street, New Whittington, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He went to France on 8th September 1914 and was killed in action on 20th October 1914, aged 31, when the battalion held position south-east of Bois Grenier, Ennetieres/Escobecques, France against a German attack.
