Born at Ely Cambridgeshire and lived at Sutton-In-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of Tom and Harriet Mills, of 97 Forest Street, Sutton-In-Ashfield. He was a theatre prop master prior to enlisting at Sutton-In-Ashfield. He went to France 2nd March 1915 and was killed in action, 5th June 1915, aged 19, whilst acting as a guide to the King’s Royal Rifle Corps relief, in the trenches at Kemmel, Belgium.
