Born and lived at Wirksworth, Derbyshire. Son of Sidney and Mary Melbourne, of Wirksworth, Derbyshire. ; Husband of Martha Jane Melbourne, of Rise End, Wirksworth. He was a painter prior to enlisting 9th September 1914 at Chesterfield. He went to France 28th February 1915 and was killed in action, 18th April 1915, aged 30, whilst serving in the line near Kemmel, Belgium.
