Born at Nottingham and lived at 1, Henry Place, Henry Street, Nottingham. Husband of Mary Mead, of 6, Pierrepont Place, Pierrepont Street, Nottingham. He was a bricklayers labourer prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to France 11th November 1914 and was killed in action, 16th September 1916, aged 30, in the attack at Guillemont, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
