Born at Glasgow, Scotland and lived at Birkenhead. Son of Margaret Dow, of 34, Priory Street, Birkenhead. He was a sailor with the Anglo-American Line prior to enlisting 24th October 1917 at Birkenhead. He went to France 30th March 1918 and transferred to the 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 9th April 1918. He was killed in action, 1st October 1918, aged 20, during the attack near Valmertinghe, Belgium.
