Battalion : 1/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Conwall, near Letterkenny, Donnegal, Ireland. Son of Winifred McBride, of 57, East Clyde Street, Clydebank. Husband of Maria Mcbride, of 51, Spital Lane, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Served In The South African Campaign. He was a dray-man prior to enlisting at Chesterfield 7th September 1914. He was appointed Lance Corporal 21st November 1914 and went to France 25th February 1915. He was promoted Corporal 2nd June 11915, appointed Lance Sergeant 11th August 1915 and promoted Sergeant 23rd August 1915. He was killed, 19th September 1915, age 37, whilst tending the wounded by a German shell burst near the Ypres/Comines Canal, Belgium.
