Battalion : 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Son of Frank and Lucy May, of 8, Portland Street, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He was an apprentice iron foundry fitter prior to enlisting 9th September 1914 at Mansfield. He went to France 2nd March 1915 and was killed in action, 15th June 1915, aged 18, during a German raid on the trenches at Kemmel, Belgium.
