London Gazette 18th June 1917, at Jeancourt on 31st March 1917, he led his men in the most gallant manner and succeeded in capturing nine prisoners. He has at all times set a splendid example of courage and determination.

Son of John and Mary Elizabeth Marsden, of 29, Avondale Road, Chesterfield.

Killed in action, 27th April 1917, aged 38 in the attack on the Hargicourt Quarries.
