Born and lived at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Son of John and Mary Lynch, of 1, Newbold Road, Chesterfield. He was a colliery labourer prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He went to France on 27th August 1915 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, during the attack on the German positions at Ovillers, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
