Born at Bethnal Green, London and lived at Stoke Newington, London. Son of Alfred James and Ann Lloyd, of 18, Hayling Road, Stoke Newington, London. He was a French polisher prior to enlisting 7th October 1915 at Stoke Newington. He was transferred to the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 21st October 1917 and went to France 24th October 1917. He was killed in action, 10th October 1918, aged 26, in the attack on the German positions near Bohain, France.
