Born at Nottingham and lived at 18, Albion Street, Nottingham. Son of George Henry and Annie Leeson. He was box maker prior to enlisting 29th May 1915 at Nottingham into the 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and was posted to the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 10th January 1917. He was killed in action, 17th January 1917, whilst serving at Vergies, France.
