Battalion: 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Heage, near Belper, Derbyshire. Son of William Keightly. Husband of Violet Keightley, of Barns Yard, Forest Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. He was a collier before enlisting at Chesterfield, Derbyshire on 27th May 1904. He went to France on 19th September 1914 and was killed in action on 20th October 1914, when the battalion held position south-east of Bois Grenier, Ennetieres/Escobecques, France against a German attack.
