Born at Nottingham and lived at 14, Daligne Street, Radford, Nottingham. Son of Emily Johnson, of 17, Page Street, Nottingham. He was a window cleaner prior to enlisting. He went to France on 28th February 1915 and he died of wounds on 3rd July 1916, aged 35.
