Private William Hunt

Battalion : 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Belper, Derbyshire and lived at Harrison’s Yard, Belper. Husband of Flora Jane Hunt, of Beresford Yard, Belper. He was a Lamp Repairer for Belper Urban District Council prior to enlisting 27th March 1909 at Belper. He went to France 25th February 1915 and was admitted to 2nd London Casualty Clearing Station, on 18th November 1915 suffering from a fractured rib after being kicked by a mule, whilst tending to it on stable duty. He was transferred to the 2nd General Hospital, Le Havre, France, 20th November 1915. He rejoined his battalion and was admitted to No. 43 Casualty Clearing Station 21st December 1916 and died there, 24th December 1916, of valvular heart disease.
