Private Arthur Humberstone

Battalion: 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby) Regiment.

Born at Great Coates, Lincolnshire. Son of William and Elizabeth Humberstone, of 36, Poplar Rd., Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire. He was a gas works labourer. Enlisted at Cleethorpes and served in France from 9th July 1916 to 11th August 1916, then from 20th March 1917 until 23rd March 1918 when he was wounded by gunshot wounds. He was initially admitted to No. 10 General Hospital, Rouen, France and then transported to England via the hospital ship Carisbrook Castle on 30th March 1918 and was admitted to No. 16 Canadian General (Duchess of Connaught Canadian Red Cross) Hospital, Taplow, Buckinghamshire 31st March 1918. He died from septicaemia on 22nd February 1919 aged 42.
