Sergeant Ernest Harvey Howitt

Born in Clay Cross, Derbyshire and lived 51 Goodmayes Avenue, Goodmayes, Ilford, Essex. Son of Samuel and Sarah A. Howitt, of Hepthorne Lane, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was chemical laboratory assistant prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He was killed in action, 16th September 1916, aged 21, during the attack on the German positions at Guillemont, France during the Battle of the Somme.
