Born at Clay Cross, Chesterfield, Derbyshire and lived at 30 Clarence Road, Chesterfield. Son of William and Florence Howe, of “Maisonette,” Spital, Chesterfield. He was a pupil colliery surveyor prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He died of wounds, 6th July 1916, aged 22, received at Fricourt, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
