Second Lieutenant George Silkstone Hopkinson

Born at Ely Cran, Derbyshire. Son of William and Adah Ellen Hopkinson, of High Street, Clay Cross, Derbyshire. He was a colliery office clerk prior to enlisting and went to France on 20th February 1915. He gained a commission of Second Lieutenant, 24 October 1916. He was killed in action, 18th January 1918, aged 22, whilst serving in the line near St. Elie, France.
