Son of George Henry and Sarah Patience Hopkinson, of 20, Charles Street, Leabrooks, Alfreton, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting in February 1915 at Nottingham. He served in Gallipoli during 1915. He went to France and died, 4th December 1916, aged 24, at No. 3 Stationary Hospital, Rouen, France.
