Private Frederick Arthur Holmes

Battalion : 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at Nottingham. Son of Frederick A. and Jael Holmes, of 11, Wilford Grove, The Meadows, Nottingham. He enlisted 10th November 1914 at Nottingham into the 1/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He went to France 18th August 1915 and returned to England in April 1916. He was transferred to the 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and returned to France 18th November 1916. He was awarded the Good Conduct badge, 23rd December 1916. He was wounded in his right leg 15th March 1917 and was transferred to Hospital in Etaples, France 19th March 1917 and to England 22nd March 1917. He died of pneumonia at Grimsby Hospital 14th August 1917, aged 19.
