Born at Nottingham and lived at Bloomsgrove Street, Nottingham. Son of Jeremiah and Elizabeth, of 1 Regent Place, Bloomsgrove Street, Radford, Nottingham. He was a labourer prior to enlisting, 18th August 1914 at Nottingham. He went to France 3rd May 1915 and was killed in action, 9th August 1915, aged 22, in the attack at Sanctuary Wood, Belgium.
