Battalion : 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Chesterfield, Derbyshire and lived at 11, Foljambe Road, Chesterfield. Son of John and Sarah Ann Hodgson, of 52, Maynard Row, West Bars, Chesterfield. He was a chemist porter prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He was killed in action, on 17th July 1916, age 35, by German shellfire whilst serving in the line southeast of Trones Wood, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
