Born at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of Reuben and Eliza Hinton, of 9, St. Peter Square, Sutton-In-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. He was a miner at Crown Farm Colliery and lived at 21, Gladstone Street, Mansfield. He enlisted at Mansfield 30th April 1913, went to France 25th June 1915 and died, 21st July 1915, aged 19, at No. 10 Casualty Clearing Station, Remy Siding, Belgium, from gunshot wounds to his abdomen.
