Son of Jesse And Eliza Hind, of Edwalton, Nottingham. Husband of Eliza Montgomery Andrews, of Ardara, Comber, Co. Down. Went to France on 26th February 1915. Was awarded the M.C. London Gazette date 3rd June 1916. Killed in action, on 1st July 1916, aged 38, when was shot through the head whilst looking for a way through the German wire only 100 yards distant, during the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
Commemorated : Thiepval Memorial, France. Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A.
