British 15 Star, British War and Victory MedalSon of Jesse William and Lillian Frances Hind, of The Elms, Newcastle Circus, The Park, Nottingham. Educated at Aldro Preparatory School, Eastbourne, at Rugby, and at Oriel College, Oxford. He enlisted at Nottingham and was gazetted 22nd August 1914 and joined the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 31st December 1914. He served at Gallipoli and was wounded at Suvla Bay, 9th August 1915. He went to France in 1916 and was killed in action, 27th September 1916, aged 23, whilst in the line near Ovillers Post, South of Thiepval, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
