British 1914 Star, British War and Victory MedalBorn at Westwood, Nottinghamshire and lived at 160 Ewart Road, Forest Fields, Nottingham. Son of William and Agnes Hill. He was a pipe moulder prior to enlisting on 23rd May 1907 at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He went to France on 4th November 1914. He suffered frostbite and was admitted to 25 Field Ambulance, 24th November 1914 at Was transferred to eh 11th General Hospital Boulogne, France, before being transported to England on Hospital Ship Oxfordshire, 12th December 1914. He returned to France on 18th March 1915, was appointed Lance Corporal on 8th April 1915 and was killed in action, on 9th May 1915, age 29, during the attack at Rouge Bancs, France.
