British War and Victory MedalBorn at Wincobank, Yorkshire, and lived at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Son of Henry Elizabeth Hill, of 13, Station Road, Hepthorne Lane, Chesterfield. He was a wagon repairer prior to enlisting on 12th June 1915 at Chesterfield. He went to France on 6th March 1916 and was killed in action, on 3rd September 1916, aged 23, during the attack on the German positions near Beaumont Hamel, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
