Born at Brampton, Derbyshire and lived at Highfields, Doncaster, Yorkshire. Husband of Violet, of 6 Coppice Road, Highfields Road, Doncaster. Son of Charles and Sarah Higginbottom, of 1, Brewery Yard, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He was killed in action, on 10th June 1917, by German shellfire whilst serving in the line at St. Jean, Belgium.
